A Note on Age-Appropriate Feeding

Between 6 and 12 months, babies are in a transition phase—learning to move from milk feeds to meals. During this time, breast milk or infant formula should remain the primary source of nutrition, with solid foods introduced gradually to support development and nutrient needs (especially iron and zinc).

If your baby seems hungry between meals, it’s often appropriate to offer an additional milk feed. From around 12 months, food becomes the main source of energy and nutrients, and offering 2–3 planned snacks per day can support healthy eating patterns.

Although the recipes in this list are described as “snacks,” they can also be offered as small meals, or combined with other foods to create a more substantial baby meal. Think of these ideas as building blocks for flexible, real-life feeding routines.
