Ingredient Notes, Substitutes, & Alternatives

  • Medjool dates: I usually use medjool dates when I stuff dates as they are larger and softer. But you can use dried delgate dates which are often a bit more economical.
  • Peanut butter: I usually use unsweetened crunchy peanut butter. This recipe works just as well with other nut butters. Almond butter and Cashew Butter are yummy and sunbutter is a great nut-free option.
  • Dark chocolate: I use dark chocolate as I like its stronger flavor combined with the sweetness of the date, but you can use milk chocolate if you prefer.
  • Salt: A little salt brings all the flavors together, but could be left out if you prefer or if your peanut butter is already very salty.
