These are my favourite healthy smoothie recipes for kids. I love making smoothies with fruit, vegetables and nutritious ingredients also taste great!

Smoothies can be perfect for snacks when you are under time pressure. I find them so handy to fuel up my hangry kids afterschool before we zoom off to sport practices and afterschool activities.

Smoothie Ingredients

You can make blend smoothies for kids out of almost anything, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds a bit of liquid, maybe a flavor boost and something to add sweetness. Below are some of my favourite ingredients to throw in a blender and make healthy smoothies for my kids.

Fruit

  • Apple
  • Avocado
  • Banana (fresh or frozen)
  • Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Dates
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Mango (fresh or frozen)
  • Oranges
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Peaches (fresh or canned)

Vegetables

  • Carrot
  • Cauliflower
  • Cucumber
  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Zucchini

Nuts, Seeds & Grains

  • Almonds
  • Cashews
  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Ginger
  • Hemp seeds
  • Nut butters (almond butter, cashew butter)
  • Nutmeg
  • Oats
  • Peanut butter
  • Quinoa

Liquids

  • Almond milk
  • Apple juice
  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut water
  • Cows' milk
  • Greek yogurt
  • Ice
  • Kefir
  • Oat milk
  • Orange juice
  • Pineapple juice

Sweeteners & Flavorings

Chocolate and peanut butter is a match made in heaven for kids. Add the goodness of cauliflower and chia seeds and this smoothie is perfect!

  1. My daughter is Autistic and refuses most, almost all foods. I would love to get some more ideas because she will drink shakes.

      1. Please do!! 🙂 my brain can't cope without ratios or weights or measurements of some kind, haha. Maybe, if you want to keep it loose-ish you could give the recipe in 'parts'?
