Step by step Instructions
Below are illustrated step-by-step instructions to make my celery and peanut butter butterflies, if you prefer just the written instructions then head straight to the recipe card
Step one: Cut celery sticks into 3 inch pieces, (around 8cm). Use a sharp knife to slice a very thin slice off the curved side of the celery stick. This will create a nice stable base so your celery will be easy to fill with peanut butter and your butterflies will sit nicely.
Step two: Fill the celery sticks with peanut butter. If your peanut butter is a little runny, pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes or so before you make this snack.

Step three: Press two pretzels into the celery filling, these will be your celery butterfly wings.

Top Tips
Here is how you can make this recipe perfectly every time!
- If your peanut butter is a little too runny to easily fill the celery sticks, pop the jar of peanut butter in the fridge for half an hour or so before you intend on making this snack.
- Don't skip the step where I take the thin slice off the bottom of the celery stick, this makes it way easier to fill and present the butterflies.
- If you don't like the combination of peanut butter with celery, try substituting the peanut butter for cream cheese.
- These will hold well in the fridge for a few hours, so you can make them in advance.
FAQs
Absolutely, a snack made up of celery and good quality peanut butter will be high in fibre, low in sugar and rich in protein and heart heathy fats.
In my mind a good quality peanut butter is one with very few ingredients, in fact I believe it should only contain peanuts and a little salt. Peanut butters do not need to contain extra oils, sugar or high amounts of salt to be tasty.
