Ingredients You Will Need

  • Stock up your pantry with Traditional Rolled Oats or Quick Oats (quick cook oats work fine although the texture will be a little mushier. Steel-cut oats are not suitable for overnight oatmeal.
  • Soft fresh fruit like bananas, mango, peaches, strawberries, blueberries or grated apples add natural sweetness colour and flavor (you can of course use frozen or canned fruits as well)
  • Nuts, seeds and nut butter add texture, fat, flavor and protein. Walnuts, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, chia seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseed, peanut butter, almond butter and cashew butter can all be used.
  • Get some mason jars or airtight containers with lids
  • Extra sweetness can be added by using maple syrup or honey
  • Natural flavorings like vanilla extract and cinnamon
  • A liquid for the oats to soak in could include milk, almond milk, coconut milk, (or other dairy-free milk) Greek yogurt, kefir, fruit juice or a combination of some of these.
