Gluten Free Teriyaki Sauce
In this post I show you how easy it is to make gluten-free teriyaki sauce. Teriyaki sauce is one of my kid's favourite flavours. Typically store-bought teriyaki sauce contains gluten but not this version.

Ingredients you will need
To make my gluten-free teriyaki sauce you will need
- tamari
- water
- brown sugar
- sesame oil
- rice vinegar
- garlic powder
- ground ginger
- corn flour (gluten-free)
Ingredient Notes and Substitutes
- Tamari: Is gluten-free soy sauce. If you don't need to have gluten-free teriyaki sauce you can just use regular soy sauce.
- Brown sugar: I like the flavour the brown sugar adds, the recipe works equally well with white sugar, coconut sugar and maple syrup.
- Rice vinegar: Rice vinegar and rice wine vinegar are the same things.
- Corn flour (gluten-free): Arrowroot powder will also work.

Step one: Place all ingredients (excluding the corn flour and the second measure of water), whisk to combine and begin to heat
Step two: Whisk together the corn flour and water In a small bowl to create a slurry.
Step three: Add the corn flour slurry to the warmed teriyaki sauce, and heat until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
Step four: Remove from the heat, allow to cool and store in the fridge in an airtight jar.

Here is how you can make these gluten-free teriyaki sauce perfectly for your family every time!
Sweetness: I have discovered some teriyaki sauces are sweeter than others, and the sweetness you prefer will come down to personal preference. I find 3 tablespoons of sugar is perfect, but if you like it a little sweeter, you can taste and then stir in an extra spoonful of sugar while the sauce is still warm.
