Alternatives | Substitutions | Modifications

  • Smoked paprika: If you can't get smoked paprika you can substitute for sweet or piquant paprika. But the smoked stuff gives the best flavor!
  • Cocoa powder: This is my secret ingredient, cocoa adds richness, depth of flavor, amazing color and umami flavor.
  • Garlic powder: This can be substituted for onion powder.
  • Chilli flakes: (Red pepper flakes) Add as little or as much as you like depending on your family's love of spice! You can also substitute this for chilli powder.

How To Make This Recipe Suitable For Baby-Led-Weaning

Many store-bought spice packet mixes can be high in sugar and salt making them unsuitable for baby-led weaning. This homemade Mexican seasoning has neither salt nor sugar so is the perfect spice for a little one.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 3 Tablespoons cumin (ground)
  • 1 Tablespoon coriander (ground)
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
