Tortilla Pizza

Making a Tortilla Pizza is the quickest way to make a meal or snack for one. No need to fuss around with pizza dough, a tortilla is the perfect thin and crispy crust.

Ingredients you will need

  • 4 Tortilla
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup grated cheese

Topping Ideas

  • Baby Spinach leaves
  • Fresh basil
  • Tomato slices
  • Mushroom slices
  • Ham, salami, pepperoni, sausage cured meats
  • Shredded chicken
  • Corn kernels
  • Olives
  • Capsicum/Bell peppers
  • Onions, red onions
  • Steamed Vegetables

Ingredient Notes and Substitutes

  • Tortilla: Use your favourite flour tortilla, corn tortilla or gluten-free tortilla or wrap will all be fine. You just need a thin flat bread of any description.
  • Pizza sauce: Use your favourite store-bought tomato sauce or make your own homemade pizza sauce.
  • Cheese: It is ok to use any cheese. I like to use a combination of mozzarella cheese for its stretch factor and strong cheddar cheese or parmesan cheese for flavor.


Step-by-step instructions

Below are illustrated step-by-step instructions to make my Tortilla Pizza recipe, if you prefer just the written instructions then head straight to the printable recipe card below.

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 F).

Step one: Spread your tortillas with the pizza sauce. I like to use the back of a spoon to do this.

Step two: Sprinkle with the grated cheese and toppings if using

Step three: Bake on a baking sheet, pizza pan or on a cast iron skillet in the hot oven until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

Top Tips

Here is how you can make these Tortilla Pizzas perfectly every time!

  • One of my favourite hacks when I make pizza for my kids is to make my own hidden veggie pizza sauce, so no matter what they add as topping they are still getting a few extra veggies in their day.
  • Tortillas come in different sizes the smaller ones make the perfect mini pizzas for kids.
  • Tortilla pizzas cook fast! So keep an eye on them while they cook. I like to set a timer in case I get distracted.
  • My kids love having pizzas in their lunchbox, it's a nice alternative to sandwiches and if I use a gluten-free tortilla it is perfect for my son who has coeliac disease.
