Place all the salad ingredients into a large bowl.
In a second smaller bowl combine all the dressing ingredients together.
Add the dressing to the salad and mix until all the salad ingredients are dressed.
Enjoy.

Notes
Even if you are substituting some of the ingredients, be sure to include fresh apple, some dried fruit and a nut or seed. This way you will end up with a combination of sweet salty and crunchiness that is delicious.
Some people do not like raw cauliflower or raw broccoli florets, which I can totally understand. If you prefer you can blanch and chill the cauliflower and broccoli florets so that they are tender.
This makes a very large salad, feel free to halve the ingredients.
The homemade dressing I make for this broccoli cauliflower salad recipe is equally nice on a coleslaw or your favourite slaw.
This salad is at its best on the day it is made. As overtime the nuts and seeds you add become soft. But it is still delicious even with the soft nuts, store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
For an extra flavour boost, I love crumbling a little fat into this salad.
Broccoli and cauliflower florets: Instead of using a mix of the two you could make this just a cauliflower salad or just a broccoli salad.
Apples: I love adding apple to salad, because even if my kids pick out the veggies they will still love the apples. I like to use a sweet drips apple such as sweet tango, ambrosia, pink lady or royal gala.
Spinach leaves: Any green leafy vegetables kale, or lettuce will work.
Cashews: I use roasted salted cashews supra their flavour and saltiness. You could substitute these for any nuts, roasted chickpeas, roasted pepitas or sunflower seeds.
Cranberries and raisins: Dried fruit are always lovely in a salad, and again give my kids reason to dish the salad up on their plate. You could use all raisins or all cranberries you do not need to use a mixture.
Bacon: Definitely not necessary and can be left out if you would like to keep this salad vegetarian.
