Ingredients

  • 12 chocolate cupcakes
  • 1 cup chocolate buttercream
  • ½ cup cream cheese frosting
  • 12 jaffas or red m&ms
  • 18 spearmint leaves

Instructions

  • Ice each of the cupcakes with chocolate buttercream
  • Spoon a dollop of the cream cheese frosting on top to look a little like a Christmas pudding
  • Decorate with 1 Jaffa (or red ball-shaped sweet) and 1-2 spearmint leaves
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Instead of decorating the Christmas cupcakes before serving, set up a decorating table and people can make their very own chocolate figgy puddings. Kids will love it
  • Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before attempting to decorate them
  • Chocolate cupcakes: I use chocolate cupcakes but you could use any flavour vanilla cupcakes recipe or dairy-free cupcake recipe. I used a gluten-free boxed cake mix portioned into cupcake liners.
  • Candies: I use sweets to create an edible sprig of holly. Jaffas are a New Zealand candy (candy-coated orange chocolate balls), you need a red ball-shaped candy that will act as the berries of the holly. Red cinnamon candy like red hots would also work. Spearmint leaves are leaf-shaped gummy sweets popular in New Zealand.
