In a small bowl whisk together all of the sauce ingredients, then set aside.
Cut your broccoli into florets and blanch in boiling water. You could also steam the broccoli in the microwave.
Finely slice the garlic gloves
Slice the beef into slices (½ cm / ¼ inch thick)
Heat a skillet or large fry pan to a medium heat. Add the almonds to the pan and toast them. Remove them from the pan and set aside.
Stir Fry
Add the oil to your fry pan and heat to a high heat.
Add the beef to the fry pan and cook until browned.
Add the finely sliced garlic to the beef and stir fry for 30 seconds.
Add the sauce to the pan, stirring until the sauce is bubbling.
Add the broccoli to the pan, and stir so that everything is coated in the sauce. Let the beef and broccoli cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened and is glossy.
Sprinkle on the almonds.
Serve.

Notes
Be sure to cut your beef across the grain, this will mean it is more tender in the stir fry.
Beef stock or water: Look for gluten-free stock or beef-broth if this is needed for you. The recipe will have a richer flavor if you use stock or broth, but it is completely acceptable just to use water.
Corn flour/cornstarch: This thickens the sauce, makes it glossy and means that it will coat both the broccoli and beef. Arrowroot also works as a thickener.
Soy sauce: Choose gluten-free soy sauce or Tamari if you need this recipe to be gluten-free.
Broccoli Florets: By name, this recipe is made with broccoli, but you can use other vegetables if you prefer, cauliflower, cauliflower bell peppers/capsicum, and carrots all work well.
Ground ginger: This can be substituted for Chinese five spice if you prefer
Beef: I use rump steak or flank steak when I make this recipe. Tender cuts such as fillet or sirloin are lovely but more expensive. This recipe will also work with lamb or chicken.
Almonds: The almonds are an optional garnish. Sesame seeds are lovely as well
Notes for Baby Led Weaning
If you are making this broccoli beef stir fry recipe for a young baby look for low-sodium soy sauce and stock.
Be sure to cook the broccoli until very tender (finger-squishable)
Large strips of beef can be served to babies, they will suck the iron-rich juices and gum the meat. Refer to baby-led weaning starter foods for more information.
