- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 ½ cups water
- ½ teaspoon salt
Put the basmati rice, water and salt in a saucepan with a lid.
Turn the stove on high, and heat until the water is boiling.
Once boiling immediately reduce the heat to low. Leave the rice to cook on low for 15 minutes
Turn the heat off, leave for a few minutes
Remove the lid, and fluff the basmati rice. Enjoy!
- Don't faff around too much with the rice, I find you don't need to rinse or soak the rice.
- Use the rapid absorption method that I have described above.
- Stick to the ratio of 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water and you can't go wrong
- Below are some common ratios of rice and water.
- ½ cup rice to ¾ cups water
- 1 cup rice to 1 ½ cups water
- 1 ½ cups rice to 2 ¼ cups water
- 2 cups rice to 3 cups water
- 3 cups rice to 4 ½ cups water
