Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Put the basmati rice, water and salt in a saucepan with a lid.
  • Turn the stove on high, and heat until the water is boiling.
  • Once boiling immediately reduce the heat to low. Leave the rice to cook on low for 15 minutes
  • Turn the heat off, leave for a few minutes
  • Remove the lid, and fluff the basmati rice.
    Enjoy!

Notes

  • Don't faff around too much with the rice, I find you don't need to rinse or soak the rice.
  • Use the rapid absorption method that I have described above.
  • Stick to the ratio of 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water and you can't go wrong
  • Below are some common ratios of rice and water.
  • ½ cup rice to ¾ cups water
  • 1 cup rice to 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 ½ cups rice to 2 ¼ cups water
  • 2 cups rice to 3 cups water
  • 3 cups rice to 4 ½ cups water
