Peel and slice your banana, add optional ingredients if desired.
Blend until smooth, this can be done with a stick blender, food processor or traditional blender. Alternatively you can mash your banana with a fork.
Notes
Pureeing your banana will give a smoother consistency
Mashed bananas may end in very soft lumps that can be a good progression for babies increasing the texture in their complementary foods.
Make your banana baby food in advance and freeze it in either an ice cube tray or a baby food tray so that you have a quick snack in your freezer ready to go.
Frozen blocks of banana puree can be lovely for a teething baby to suck on
Ingredient notes
Choose ripe bananas: Ripe bananas will show no trace of green skin. They will feel plump and their skin may have freckles (brown spots). Ripe bananas also smell sweet when sniffed.
Bananas with large black patches indicate the fruit is bruised
Bananas that seem to have shrivelled are past the point of perfect ripeness.
Breast milk or baby formula: If you wish you can add breast milk or baby formula to the puree.
Cinnamon: As an optional extra a little pinch of cinnamon can be a nice addition.
