Ingredients

  • 4 cups red or green grapes

Instructions

  • Wash your grapes, I do this in a colander with running water. Leave your grapes in the colander to drain for a few minutes.
  • Gently remove the grapes from the bunches (being sure to discard any damaged or discoloured grapes.
  • Place the grapes in an airtight container or zip lock bag.
  • Freeze over night
  • Enjoy

Notes

  • Ripe grapes of any colour will work, seedless grapes are best.
  • Frozen grapes are enjoyed best after they have softened for just a few minutes at room temperature, when they have softened just a little they are like sorbet.
  • If you want your grapes to have a beautiful frosted look, give them a quick mist with water when you bring them out of the freezer, leave them for a few minutes and they will become frosted.
  • One of my favourite hacks for a summertime cheese platter is to freeze a bunch of grapes, frost it as I described above then add it to a platter. It will look great and it's nice and cool.
  • You can also pop frozen grapes into your white wine or rosé, unlike ice cubes they don't water down the taste.
  • My kids love them in their water, for a fancy kids drink
  • Whole grapes are a known choking hazard for young children so this treat is best suited to older children.
  • Once frozen your grapes will be best enjoyed frozen. Defrosted frozen grapes become a bit soggy, they are great in smoothies though.
